This Camping in Arens de Lledó, Teruel, gained full planning permission and was awarded a considerable subsidy by the Aragonese government.
The authorities were impressed by the attention to detail, both in terms of its integration within the site and also the technical solutions provided to solve its fully off-grid status.
SKH Architects worked with Cresol Engineers in order to produce a coordinated project.
The buildings use the local vernacular and are situated within the existing terrain to minimise impact but provide a clear organisation to the public facilities. A wheelchair-accessible camp site was one of the project requirements, and by using regulatory consolidated self-draining paths, accessibility has been maximised.
The bar/shop with its stone oven and roof terrace. The toilets and wash rooms are simple, and open to natural light and ventilation. Below the two blocks are the water storage tanks for treated water supplies, drawn up from an on-site well.
