This house, poised on the edge of a beautiful golf course located between the Costa Dorada and the hills of the Priorat region, was laid out to take advantage of the views it opened on to. A series of terraced areas are integrated with a landscaped garden.
The house was finished in a combination of colours of monocapa render as is typical in this part of Spain. The windows were high quality PVC with integrated roller shutters.
The overall time on site was 10 months, for a house which was around 300m2 built area.

The external walls were constructed with a double leaf cavity with Rockwool type insulation. The slab edges at first floor and second floor levels were given a decorative 'cornice' type profile to soften the eaves detail. The plinth was given a typical random rustic stone cladding.

Client meeting on site to review progress. These clients were resident in Switzerland during the process of the construction project and came at regular intervals to see work in progress. The general running of the job was supervised by SKH Architects. The clients were taken to local suppliers and showrooms to choose the fixtures, fittings and finishes such as marble floors, tiles and joinery for the finished house.

The ground slab and ground level columns have been poured by a subcontractor specialising in concrete structures. For larger houses, this type of construction is very typical. At this stage careful checks are always carried out to ensure that the setting out of the columns is accurate. During the process of each pouring of concrete, samples need to be sent for analysis to a laboratory to check the strength of the mix.

The steel reinforcement of the perimeter foundations and column bases. In Spain, it is the responsibility of the architect to check that all reinforcement has been placed according to the structural details that have been submitted for planning permission. Site visits at this stage are called specifically to check the reinforcement before concrete is poured.
